Bill Peschel

If he's not going to read it, can I have his copy? I'd love to read it!

If he doesn't like his job of reviewing books, I would like to have his job. I never have enough time to read as much as I want, so a job requiring that I read would be perfect for me.

Sounds just like Franzen's "Mr. Difficult" piece, except that Jones does not mention paintball.

But isn't the editor of Newsweek even more unprofessional than Jones in printing Jones' review?

If Jones didn't want to read the book and while still wanting his check, that's one level of dishonesty.

Newsweek's editors choosing to publishing his rationale in the form of a book review is another. There are no reasons not cynical why they would.
