Does Paglia understand how to do close critical analysis? As I recall from my reading of Sexual Personae, Paglia's variant of "close reading" usually produces results that have oddly little to do with the poem. I seem to remember her going through one Wordsworth poem and winding up with, er, oral sex imagery, which struck me at the time as a...baffling...result.
